Goodbye, Old Friend

Get ready to kiss the click wheel goodbye. This is the year the iPod classic will die.

I hate to say it, but it's probably the case. I have an iPod classic I keep in my car solely for mass music storage, but I rarely dig it out. More often than not, I have to charge the battery just to turn it on. For awhile, I loved my iPod classic, but with an iPhone and an iPad that go with me everywhere, I don't really want another device to carry around.

In the spirit of consolidation, I do (sort of) see the case for making a "phablet" - a plus-sized iPhone that doubles as a small tablet. I love my iPhone 5 and my iPad Mini, but there are times that I'd love to have just one device to rule them all - just as long as the battery life is more like the iPad, less like the iPhone.

Apple announces tomorrow. I'm eager to see what's going to come out.
